Five Healthy Habits During Quarantine

As countries around the world have been affected by COVID-19, it can be difficult to stay optimistic and mindful during this time. It may be tempting to go outside in a large social gathering or to not take extra precautions at a beach. However, by taking these extra safety measures, can actually prevent further increases of cases. So here are habits that can help make your quarantine safer and better.

1.Meditation

Meditation includes an abundance of benefits regarding illness and inner-self. Meditation increases self-awareness for not only yourself but with how your actions affect other people as well, reduction of negativity, and help cope with mental illnesses.

As there are many different forms of meditation (guided meditation, mantra meditation, mindfulness meditation, qi gong, tai chi, or even yoga), these can all be imputed into your day-to-day life. When you first start out, your meditation schedule may include only just ten minutes per day. When you transition to more advanced practices of meditation, that time duration may change.

2.Reading

Although watching a Netflix TV Show may sound appealing, reading an amazing book can be just as thrilling as well. Reading has been scientifically shown to strengthen one’s brain as well as increasing vocabulary. People who read often are also more likely to understand others better, as well as a decrease of stress.

There are millions of amazing books with different genres that are waiting to be read. Perhaps you are more of a Jane Austen fan or even a John Green fan, either way, find out what kind of book you want to read and it’ll definitely be worth the 300-pages.

3.Facial Masks

Sometimes during the pandemic, not only are we mentally stressed out but physically as well. Our skin can sometimes be a manifestation of how we feel. However, this doesn’t mean that we cannot treat it or do anything about it.

Facial Masks help to combat against your skin type as well as skin issues.  In a previous blog post from MDSUN (that states more information on facial masks), these skincare products are extremely helpful.

MDSUN’S Super-Brightening Mask helps to treat dry, combination, or pigmented skin. The main goals in this mask are to help soothe your skin, create an overall radiant and glowy complexion, as well as lock in moisture. The ingredients are Glabridin, Deoxy-Arbutin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Hyaluronic acid, Panthenol, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin K. As Glabridin is seen to help lighten your skin without harming it, green tea extract can be seen to help with discoloration.

4.Hydration

Although this seems to be the easiest step to follow, people can often forget the amount of water that they need to intake (following this water calculator that shows your needed amount).

Keeping yourself hydrated has numerous advantages such as getting better glowy skin, helping with one’s health, making your muscles function well, and cleansing all the toxic waste from your body. So the next time you’re at the kitchen, do yourself a favor and grab a glass of water!

5.Exercise

Instead of living out the “couch potato” life and eating out a tub full of ice cream, try to get your body moving instead! Whether this is to go swimming outside, taking a quick walk with your dog, or even walking up a flight of stairs – exercise proves to help with blood pressure and mental health.

These five healthy habits can make a huge difference in your mental and physical health, so instead of seeing this quarantine as forced and negative, allow it to be a time of growth.
